Sliplining is a solution that allows the installation of a new pipe by reusing the old pipe and thus avoiding having to dig a new trench. The existing pipe becomes the host for the new pipe which is slipped into place. The annular space between the old pipe and the new pipe is then grouted to ensure full contact between the host pipe and new liner pipe. Sliplining is an excellent solution to restore a pipeline to functionality and at substantial cost reduction compared to the total replacement of the pipeline section.
The stability, low density, and excellent flowability of Elastizell lightweight cellular grout is the perfect choice for grouting the annular space in sliplined pipeline rehabilitation. The low unit weight of Elastizell results in an annular grout that exerts a less buoyant force on the new liner pipe thereby greatly reducing the potential for stress on the liner pipe or displacement of the invert. In certain applications, the low-density Elastizell is also desirable because it will impart less stress on in-situ alluvial soils than higher unit weight conventional grout mixes.
The flowability of Elastizell lightweight cellular grout permits pumping at very low pressures to assure no damage to the liner and host pipe and complete filling of all voids within the annular space. Using Elastizell lightweight cellular grout for your sliplined pipeline annular space grouting offers excellent thermal insulation as well as seismic and corrosion prevention.
